Rialto Film Entertainment is a Scandinavian Distribution company.
The original Danish Rialto Film company is one of the oldest film companies in the world. It was founded in 1897 by Constantin Philipsen who also opened the first real cinema “Kosmorama” in Denmark in 1904. In Denmark his son Constantin Preben Philipsen founded Constantin Film in the 1930’s and in Germany he co-founded Constantin Film, Rialto Film and Tobis Film in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.
During the 50's, 60's and 70's Preben Philipsen produced or co-produced over a 100 Danish, German and international films i.e. We Want a Child (1949), Harry and the Butler (1961), Weekend (1962), Tine (1964), Løgneren (1970), Nøddebo Præstegaard (1974), Sønnen fra vingården (1975) etc.
His production company Rialto Film Preben Philipsen GMBH & Co in Germany and internationally produced such hugely successful films as the Edgar Wallace crime series (1959-71), the Winnetou- western series (1963-66), My Name is Nobody (1975), A Genius, Two Partners and a Dupe (1975) etc.
His son Kim Philipsen established Rialto Film Entertainment and has run the company as a combined agent and distributor for many years now and recently his other son Peter Constantin Philipsen joined as a consultant after retiring from Nordisk Film where he over a 30 years period occupied various key management positions.
Michael Pihl Sandager joined as a partner from Dicentia Studios and still has his own company Closer Media and was prior Managing Director at the Zentropa company Electric Parc.
Kim and Peter Philipsen also still control and run their Danish family company Rialto Film/ Preben Philipsen.
